About The Position

This Carpenter role involves completing finishes work such as drywall patching and finishing, painting, installing ceiling tiles, hanging doors, and other general carpentry tasks based on sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions. The position requires willingness to travel, as project durations are typically 3-6 months, after which the crew relocates to a new city. It is a physically demanding role on an active construction site, requiring safe work around heavy equipment and construction traffic. The work environment is primarily outdoors, exposing the employee to various elements like heat, cold, rain, snow, or wind, and frequently involves exposure to moving mechanical equipment, high noise levels, dust, fumes, airborne particles, vibrations, and potential electrical hazards. Safety is paramount, necessitating consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to safety policies. Requirements

  • Apprentice certificate required for apprentices
  • Must be willing to travel
  • Must be able to work safely around heavy equipment and construction traffic
  • Must be able to frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds alone, and use team-lifting techniques for anything heavier
  • Must be able to perform long periods of continual standing or walking, along with the ability to bend, climb, kneel, and reach
  • Good balance and dexterity are crucial for working safely at various heights and in tight spaces
  • Visual acuity to operate equipment and spot hazards
  • Ability to hear with or without assistance to understand instructions in noisy environments
  • Required to consistently wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and strictly follow Clark Construction's safety policies and procedures, and all applicable laws, at all locations

Responsibilities

  • Complete finishes work including drywall patching and finishing, painting, installing ceiling tiles, hanging doors, and other general carpentry tasks according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions
  • Study blueprints and diagrams to determine dimensions of structure or form to be constructed
  • Measure materials or distances, using square, measuring tape, or rule to lay out work
  • Cut or saw boards, gypsum board, plywood, or other materials to required size, using handsaw, power saw, or woodworking machine
  • Assemble and fasten material together, using bolts, nails, or screws
  • Mark cutting lines on materials, using pencil and scriber
  • Erect forms, framework, scaffolds, ladders, hoists, or roof supports, using hand tools, plumb rule, and level
  • Bore bolt holes in timber, masonry, or concrete walls, using power drill
  • Be willing to learn new skills, as this is intended to be a jack of all trades role
