About The Position

Executing all varieties of carpentry-mason related construction, maintenance, renovation, and repair projects on campus, using high quality carpentry/masonry skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 5 years of residential and/or commercial building experience
  • Ability to work with wood, metal, or materials necessary for fabrication, repair, and renovation of all buildings
  • Knowledge of tools, building supplies, and hardware associated with building trade
  • Computer experience and ability to understand CAD drafting uses and blueprints
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to logically trouble-shoot equipment problems.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions in the conduct of the job.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and outside contacts.
  • Ability to perform manual tasks requiring moderate physical strength.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal situations and to respond appropriately to conflicts and problems.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school diploma or other carpentry and or masonry credentials desired
  • Knowledge of roofing, concrete work, window, and door installation also desired
  • Some experience with tile work preferred including grouting
  • Some masonry experience preferred including repointing, and laying brick

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all carpenter and or masonry work with other building trades
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Communicate well with all customers, staff and faculty and understand their needs
  • Provide sketches of objects to be built in the carpenter shop and installed throughout the campus buildings
  • Operate all carpenter related equipment
  • Perform all carpentry related functions
  • Complete work orders and PM (Preventive Maintenance) slips
