About The Position

This position performs carpentry work primarily in support of structural concrete construction. Responsibilities include constructing, installing, aligning, bracing, and removing concrete formwork and temporary support systems used for foundations, slabs, walls, columns, and other concrete structures. Concrete Carpenters pay close attention to project detail and must understand construction drawings, layout, and material requirements to support safe and accurate concrete placement. This position also performs general carpenter support activities as required to assist concrete operations. This is a safety‑sensitive position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License, required.
  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
  • Must be able to take initiative and ask questions.
  • Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
  • Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading.
  • Experience in concrete carpentry
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the assembly, installation, bracing, and removal of concrete forms and temporary support systems used for concrete placement.
  • Use assorted hand tools, including ten‑pound sledgehammers, shovels, picks, handsaws, skill saws, and drills to support concrete construction activities.
  • Perform layout and measurement for concrete construction, including form lines, elevations, and material placement.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements.
  • Effectively operate small hand and power tools to assist with a variety of worksite projects.
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed, including cutting, shaping, and smoothing materials used for concrete formwork, chutes, and related assemblies.
  • Assist with erecting scaffolding, ladders, and access systems required for concrete construction above ground level.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools according to project plans and specifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized jobsite, including sweeping work areas and properly storing materials.
  • Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards, including helping to secure the jobsite at the end of each workday.
