About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. The Carpenter is responsible for all carpentry tasks and assists the construction and facilities services staff with all aspects of constructing and remodeling. This role involves working on projects that include wall-mounted objects such as hanging pictures, signage, cabinets, hand sanitizers, and paper dispensers. The position requires working from blueprints and sketches, and a thorough knowledge of carpentry techniques and tools. Extra precautions are necessary when working in patient/resident care areas, ensuring tools are kept out of reach of children. The Carpenter must follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean environment.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Be able to read floor plans and blue prints.
  • Familiar with all tools associated with the trade.
  • Capable of working from blueprints and sketches.
  • Capable of accurate written and oral communication involving procedures, situations, and equipment.
  • Thorough knowledge of carpentry techniques and tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of codes, cost estimates, and ability to interpret specifications helpful.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Trade or Vocational School preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Constructs, erects, installs, and repairs structures and fixtures.
  • Assists with flooring, ceiling installation and systems, cabinets and millwork, wall protection, doors and hardware, wall covering removal, wall and floor expansion joints, marker boards, tack boards, modular furniture, clocks, and interior signage.
  • May also install cabinets, siding, drywall and batt or roll insulation.
  • Works on projects involving wall-mounted objects such as hanging pictures, signage, cabinets, hand sanitizers, and paper dispensers.
  • Follows established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean environment.
  • Takes extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas and specifically, keep tools out of reach of children.
