About The Position

This position involves the repair, design, construction, and maintenance of Hospital facilities and furnishings. It includes repairing equipment, fixtures, and structural parts of buildings, as well as performing alterations and renovations such as removing or constructing partitions and cutting doorways. The role also entails building and repairing custom cabinets and furniture. The incumbent is responsible for recording data related to assigned services and repairs, actively participating in the Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement activities/programs (e.g., preventive maintenance, fire and safety programs), and performing all duties during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Journeyman Carpenter status.
  • Ability to repair, design, construct, and maintain Hospital facilities, furnishings, and fixtures.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
  • Ability to observe all fire and safety rules and regulations in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to accurately record pertinent data regarding assigned service and repairs.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain interpersonal relationships within the Department and with other Hospital personnel.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to the Hospital, and patients and their families (PHIA/FIPPA).
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) as a condition of employment.
  • Current satisfactory Child Abuse Registry Check as a condition of employment.
  • Current satisfactory Adult Abuse Registry Check as a condition of employment.

  • Performs all duties assigned in the event of an emergency.
  • Performs other duties as required.
