About The Position

Performs a variety of carpentry duties in and around the hospital's property and grounds, including the construction, installation and repair of structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, and wallboard. Responsible for ensuring all work is performed in accordance to local building codes. Performs preventive carpentry and other maintenance work as assigned in order to keep hospital running smoothly, including but not limited to: adding floors and steel wall structures, painting, and identifying and resolving regulatory compliance deficiencies. Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Constructs, installs, finishes and maintains structures such as partitions, ceilings, floors, windows, doors, equipment, furniture, and other parts of the hospital building to keep appearance and hospital in top condition. Joins materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives; works on top of stilts, ladders, and the top beams of buildings. Prepares layouts of rooms and/or areas for renovations using blue prints, sketches, or verbal instruction. Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed. Cuts, shapes and smoothes lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements. Insures all carpentry work, as related to other trades, are completed as per written and/or verbal instruction. Completes rounding to identify and resolve regulatory compliance deficiencies. Assists with or performs other maintenance needs as directed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent; additional education and /or training required
  • Trade or vocational school graduate with courses in blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, carpentry, and woodworking preferred.
  • Knowledge of HSE policy, ability to implement HSE policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to ensure safe practices in daily operations and effective maintenance and repair services for physical premises.
  • Knowledge of the full spectrum of facilities management activities, ability to maintain, care for and develop commercial and physical facilities.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques, ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
