About The Position

Key West Historic Inns is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Carpenter to join our Engineering team. If you take pride in quality craftsmanship, enjoy restoring and maintaining beautiful spaces, and have a passion for preserving historic properties, we'd love to hear from you. As a Carpenter, you will perform a variety of carpentry, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks throughout our boutique hotel collection. From repairing guest room furnishings and doors to maintaining trim, cabinetry, and structural woodwork, you will help ensure our hotels remain safe, functional, and visually appealing while preserving the unique character and charm of our historic properties.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and other carpentry equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, building materials, and carpentry best practices.
  • Ability to read blueprints, sketches, measurements, and work orders.
  • Excellent organizational, troubleshooting, and time management skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally with guests and team members.
  • Must meet the minimum age requirement of the jurisdiction.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency call-ins as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or trade school training in carpentry or a related field is a plus.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional carpentry experience in hospitality, commercial, residential, or institutional settings preferred.
  • Experience with framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, drywall repair, flooring, doors, windows, trim work, and general building maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting, and general maintenance is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
