About The Position

We are now accepting resume/applications for EXPERIENCED Carpenters for the Garyville, LA and surrounding areas. This role is responsible for working with wood to build and repair structures and other items. The carpenter may also need to select and source appropriate materials depending on project needs. Their duties include calculating quotes, meeting with clients and creating design plans for remodeling projects.

Requirements

Valid TWIC
Valid OSHA
Must be able to pass hair follicle test
Must be able to pass criminal background check
Proven experience as carpenter
Ability to read construction drawings and blueprints
Ability to take measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed
Strong oral & written communication skills
Ability to work effectively with others
Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task
Good physical condition and endurance
Good understanding of basic math
Must be able to provide own PPE (Hard hat, steel toes, safety glasses, & gloves)
Must have reliable transportation (Traveling will be required depending on location of current assignment)
Must be able to pass a drug screen

Nice To Haves

Will be required to take Marathon Site Orientation

Responsibilities

Read blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements
Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools (powered saws, hammers, rulers etc.)
Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
Cut, shape and smooth lumber and other material (e.g. fiberglass) according to measurements
Build window frames, doors, staircases and frame buildings by using raw materials or pre-constructed items
Lay out floorings, roofings or drywalls ensuring they are leveled and compatible
Carve and assemble furniture, cabinets, shelves and other items and install them where designated
Inspect places and conduct repairs or maintenance
Build scaffolding and other construction structures
Manage housekeeping activities when requested.
Maintain the work area clean, safe and organized.
Assist in waste disposal and recycling activities
Cleanup work area and equipment after work is completed.
Execute daily work instructions received from Supervisor in a timely manner.
Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity goals while maintaining high quality standards.
Practice safety procedures in accordance with training and guidelines when working.
Comply with company policies and legal guidelines, helping to maintain a safe and orderly work environment
Meet quality and performance requirements as outlined by quality assurance and production standards
Report safety hazards, quality, and production issues to management immediately
