About The Position

Incumbent in this position performs skilled building carpentry and related duties at properties owned and managed by the Mohegan Tribe, including new construction, repairs, and renovations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of building codes and industry standards and ability to apply them
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Skilled with hand tools, power tools and other building maintenance tools and equipment
  • Solid working knowledge of framing for walls, stairs, decks and extension jambs for door and window installation
  • Good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Five (5) years professional carpentry building maintenance experience in commercial and/or residential properties including carpentry, basic plumbing, sheet rocking, interior and exterior framing, painting, etc. for new construction, repairs, and renovation projects
  • Experience in complete bathroom and kitchen renovations including tiling installation and repair
  • Valid driver’s license from state of residence
  • Ability to lift 60 pounds
  • Ability to work in adverse conditions such as extreme cold and extreme heat, dust, noise, and wetness
  • Ability to perform essential duties with physical demands such as lifting/moving, pushing/pulling, kneeling, climbing, crouching, and reaching
  • Ability to perform around mechanical hazards, moving objects and mechanical equipment
  • Selected candidate must successfully complete a background check in accordance with The Mohegan Tribe’s Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Policy (Policy #80)

Responsibilities

  • Performs skilled building carpentry and related duties at properties owned and managed by the Mohegan Tribe, including new construction, repairs, and renovations.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as train and lead staff on projects.
  • Ability to work as required for emergencies, snow/ice control and special events.
