Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program.
  • Must be able to take initiative and ask questions.
  • Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions.
  • Workers must provide their own safety footwear.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
  • Must be reliable and punctual. This includes having reliable transportation and consistent work attendance.
  • Must be able to safely wear a respirator and can pass applicable medical and fit testing examinations.
  • Must be able to hear commands from supervisors and back-up safety alarms on equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
  • OSHA 10 Certification.
  • CPR & First Aid Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Constructs and repairs building frameworks as well as structures.
  • Completes on-site tasks such as building stairways, doorframes, partitions, rafters, cabinetry, siding, and drywall.
  • Performs carpenter support activities typically performed by laborers.
  • Assists with the assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.
  • Assists with building and installing window frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
  • Ensures that the layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall is leveled and compatible.
  • Measures and calculates the size and amount of material needed, including cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other required materials.
  • Assists with handling, transporting, and setting door frames.
  • Loads, unloads, identifies, and distributes building materials, machinery, and tools.
  • Job shadows in area assignments to ensure project knowledge and skill progression.
  • Assists with area housekeeping.
  • Promotes a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards.
  • Helps to secure the jobsite at the end of the business day and verifies that all site materials are properly stored.
