Job Title: Carpenter Job Summary: The Carpenter is responsible for the planning and execution of the forming, pouring and stripping of substructure and superstructure concrete components and falsework associated with bridge construction. He/she builds rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel, bridge, or sewer supports, billboard signs, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions.

Requirements

  • Requires 2+ years of related experience.
  • Must be proficient in a wide variety of hand tools.
  • Must work quickly, productively and safely without error and consistently meet the production goals as set by the foreman, superintendent, or project manager.
  • Must be willing to travel to any and all job sites without exception (including staying away from home if necessary)
  • Must comply with all company safety and personnel policies.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry 100 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, stoop, kneel, lift overhead, work at heights, walk/work in rough terrain in order to access equipment, tools, materials, and jobsite in order to complete work.
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and report safety hazards to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Measure materials or distances, using square, measuring tape, or rule to lay out work.
  • Cut or saw boards, timbers, or plywood to required size, using handsaw, power saw, or woodworking machine.
  • Anchor and brace forms and other structures in place, using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks, wedges, and timbers.
  • Erect forms, framework, scaffolds, hoists, parapets, bulkheads, roof supports, or chutes, using hand tools, plumb rule, and level.
  • Assemble and fasten material together to construct wood or metal framework of structure, using bolts, nails, or screws.
  • Tie and carry rebar as needed.
  • Bore boltholes in timber, masonry or concrete walls, using power drill.
  • Maintain job records and schedule work crew.
  • Install temporary supports in structures undergoing construction or repair.
