About The Position

UPMC is looking to hire a Full-Time, Carpenter (Night Shift) to support the hospital in Carlisle. Candidates must have carpentry experience or be a recent carpentry trade grad to be considered. The schedule is Sunday-Wednesday, 9:00 PM - 7:00 AM. You will need to provide your own hand tools, and UPMC will provide power tools and any special tools required to complete the job. Requirements

  • Carpentry experience or be a recent carpentry trade grad.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Two years general maintenance-related work experience OR completion of a trade school required.
  • Military experience considered.
  • Trade school or trade specific multi-discipline certificate required.
  • 2 years' carpentry experience working in a healthcare or commercial building environment.
  • Completion of an industry-recognized three-year apprenticeship program in carpentry or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Two additional years of experience as a journeyman carpenter OR what is required by local governing authority.
  • Must be skilled with the use of all woodworking tools.
  • This training includes such skills as blueprint reading, shop arithmetic, knowledge of strength of materials and their characteristics.
  • Knowledge of building codes is essential.
  • May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored. No contact with medications is allowed.
  • Valid Driver's License Required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  • Perform routine repairs including ceiling tile.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
  • Perform related duties such as repair and install locks, install window glass, cut, fit and cement linoleum, lay resilient tile floors, etc.
  • Perform rough and finished carpentry, i.e. build millwork, and construct casework.
  • Record personal work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
  • Repair furniture, window, floor or structural and architectural woodwork by measuring, sawing, squaring, fitting, sanding and nailing or other processes where articles require closely fitted parts.
  • Responsible for setting up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
