About The Position

Michael Kinder & Sons, Inc., a fourth-generation family-owned Design-Build firm, is seeking a Construction Foreman to support onsite field operations. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day jobsite activities to ensure work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards—while exceeding client expectations. The Foreman will oversee field personnel, subcontractors, and suppliers, and help maintain strong working relationships with the full project team. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. MKS is a team. Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial/industrial construction experience
  • Experience as lead foreman on commercial construction projects
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Ability to read, understand and execute construction work as defined in the drawings, specifications, addenda, submittals, technical manuals, and product/material installation instructions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods)
  • Ability to implement and follow Company policies, procedures and standards is essential
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and organized work zone, ensuring tools and materials are stored properly.
  • Ensure crew compliance with site rules, including access paths, break areas, and safety zones.
  • Report site issues or conflicts to the superintendent for resolution.
  • Execute tasks according to approved drawings and standards, ensure crew understands expectations.
  • Inspect and verify crew work daily, correcting deficiencies before escalation.
  • Communicate quality concerns proactively, escalating unresolved issues to the superintendent.
  • Execute daily tasks according to schedule, ensuring crew productivity aligns with expectations.
  • Report progress and obstacles to superintendent promptly.
  • Adjust crew assignments to maintain pace and meet deadlines.
  • Use materials and tools efficiently, minimizing waste and damage.
  • Prevent rework through proper execution and crew oversight.
  • Report potential cost issues, such as delays or material shortages, to the superintendent.
  • Enforce crew-level safety practices, ensuring proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment at all times.
  • Identify and report hazards immediately, correcting when possible and escalating unresolved issues.
  • Participate actively in safety meetings and training, reinforce safety culture, and encourage accountability.
  • Work cooperatively with other trades, avoid conflicts, and support shared site goals.
  • Communicate needs and issues respectfully, maintaining professionalism.
  • Encourage teamwork within the crew, promoting accountability and support.
  • Maintain a clean and respectful work area, especially in visible or client-accessible zones.
  • Greet clients courteously when appropriate, representing the company positively.
  • Support site presentation and professionalism, ensuring crew behavior aligns with expectations.
  • Ensure Client Satisfaction by recognizing and meeting all Client needs.
  • Provide leadership through team building communications, motivation, confidence, good judgement, accountability and listening to others.
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Support and assist as needed by all team members in their roles.
  • Ensure that all parties know the importance of safety on the project and educate as needed.
