About The Position

This position provides skilled general carpentry, cabinet-making, painting, and wall covering services at Geisinger Medical Center. The role involves performing general carpentry and cabinet-making in support of alterations and new construction, including measuring, preparing working drawings, and estimating materials. Key tasks also include installing drywall, floor, and ceiling systems, as well as general roof work and masonry. The Carpenter/Painter is responsible for preparing surfaces with joint compound, caulking, and sanding, removing hardware, and protecting surfaces with masking tape and drop cloths. They set up scaffolding and ladders safely, apply paints, stains, and varnishes using various tools, and apply, trim, and smooth wall coverings. The role ensures finished areas are returned to working order, maintains equipment, and reports problems to the supervisor. Additionally, the individual assists in maintaining signage and directional systems, keeps accurate daily records of time and materials, and may serve as a technical resource and team leader. This work directly supports patient care and the teams who deliver it by keeping facilities safe, functional, and looking their best.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Performs general carpentry and cabinet-making in support of alterations and new construction.

  • Pastes, applies, trims, and smoothes wall coverings and materials.
  • Returns finished area to working order.
  • Cleans and maintains equipment and systems as required.
  • Maintains all tools and equipment in safe and operable condition.
  • Reports problems to supervisor.
  • Assists in maintenance of signage and directional systems.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of time and materials.
  • Serves as technical resource and team leader to assure a quality product when necessary.
