About The Position

Kokosing is seeking Carpenters for Marine projects in Hopewell, VA and Baltimore, MD. The role involves constructing, erecting, and repairing structures for heavy civil marine projects. Candidates must be willing to travel and work 12-hour shifts with an extended work schedule. Experience in formwork is preferred.

Requirements

Experience in formwork.
Able to work while tied off to fall protection.
Able to work or walk on uneven ground.
Able to walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Skilled in use of necessary hand and power tools.
Able to work with level.
Read and understand blueprints, sketches, or bridge plans for information pertaining to type of material required.
Read tape measure.
Lift/move up to 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Form work experience preferred.
Carpenter Training Program or equivalent experience for Carpenter Helpers.

Responsibilities

Construct, erect, and repair structures for heavy civil marine projects.
Select specified type of lumber or other materials.
Prepare layout.
Measure boards, timbers, or plywood, and mark cutting lines on materials.
Shape materials to prescribed measurements.
Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms.
Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, for use in building concrete piers, footing, and walls.
Assemble cut and shaped materials and fasten them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue.
Set expansion dams.
Assemble or run overhang modules or stick built overhangs.
Climb wingwalls, retaining walls.
Assemble wood deck forms.
Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete.
Assist in pouring of concrete.
Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
