About The Position

The Carpenter II is an experienced, skilled role responsible for independently constructing complex custom crates, pallets, and packaging solutions for industrial and commercial shipments. This position applies advanced carpentry skills, interprets detailed build specifications, and ensures compliance with quality, safety, and shipping requirements. Carpenter II employees may provide guidance to Carpenter I team members and support workflow coordination but do not have formal supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

2–4 years of hands-on experience building custom crates, pallets, or packaging solutions in a carpentry, woodworking, manufacturing, or construction environment.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Advanced working knowledge of lumber, plywood, and engineered wood products, including material selection based on load, size, and shipping requirements.
High proficiency with hand and power tools, including saws, drills, nail guns, staplers, and measuring devices.
Ability to accurately interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and detailed build specifications.
Ability to safely operate pallet jacks and forklifts up to 12,000 lbs in accordance with company policies and safety standards.
Forklift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification through company-provided training.
Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse staff, logistics personnel, and cross-functional teams to meet production goals.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred or required, based on operational needs.
Must successfully complete and maintain required IATA, IMDG, and 49 CFR training, including periodic recertification, with a minimum passing score of 90%.

Responsibilities

Independently build and assemble complex custom crates, pallets, and packaging solutions in accordance with approved specifications, drawings, and project requirements, both onsite and offsite.
Select and verify appropriate materials (e.g., lumber, plywood, engineered wood products) based on load calculations, shipment requirements, and industry standards.
Perform precise measuring, cutting, shaping, and fitting of materials using hand and power tools to ensure structural integrity and shipment readiness.
Apply advanced fastening and assembly techniques to ensure durability, stability, and compliance with quality standards.
Conduct detailed inspections of finished products to confirm accuracy, workmanship, and compliance prior to shipment.
Operate material handling equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts up to 12,000 lbs, in a safe and responsible manner.
Coordinate with warehouse, logistics, and support teams to meet production schedules and resolve build-related issues.
Provide informal guidance and support to Carpenter I team members as needed.
Maintain compliance with all safety protocols and housekeeping standards; promptly report safety or quality concerns.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support warehouse operations.
