About The Position

HHS Government Services, a federal contractor, is seeking a skilled Carpenter/General Maintenance Worker to support facility operations at a U.S. military installation in Okinawa, Japan. This is a hands-on, full-time role responsible for performing carpentry, general maintenance, and facility upkeep in accordance with contract standards and government facility requirements. The ideal candidate is self-directed, detail-oriented, and capable of performing quality work across a range of maintenance disciplines while adhering to all safety protocols and documentation requirements. Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain government installation access.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in carpentry, facilities maintenance, or a related trade required
  • Proficiency in English required for communication with team members, supervisors, and installation personnel
  • Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain government installation access (DBIDS or equivalent)
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a government facility environment
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift throughout the duration of the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks and work in varying environmental conditions
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces as required

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CMMS or work order management systems preferred
  • Experience with DMLSS or similar government logistics systems is a plus
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems including ability to read schematics is highly desirable
  • Experience with residential and commercial painting techniques preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry tasks and other assigned maintenance work in accordance with contract standards and government facility requirements
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of facilities to identify issues and ensure optimal performance
  • Fabricate, repair, and replace structural and facility components as needed to maintain operational efficiency
  • Perform residential and commercial painting tasks ensuring high-quality finishes and adherence to safety standards
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on electrical systems including reading schematics and using diagnostic tools such as an ohmmeter
  • Perform self-quality checks on all completed work to ensure compliance with contract standards prior to closeout
  • Record all completed work including time, materials, and supplies used and submit to work control for entry into DMLSS (Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support system)
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for tracking maintenance activities and inventory management
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all maintenance activities and work orders
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment throughout and after each job assignment
  • Keep work areas clear of debris and hazards during and after all maintenance activities
  • Adhere to all applicable OSHA, installation-specific, and contract safety protocols
  • Comply with all U.S. military installation access requirements, rules, and regulations
  • Provide responsive and professional service by addressing facility concerns and maintenance requests in a timely manner
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and installation personnel in English
  • Coordinate with work control and site leadership on priorities, scheduling, and work order status
