About The Position

We are an established and respected General Contracting Company seeking an experienced Carpenter Foreman to lead commercial retail construction and installation projects throughout Hawaii. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on carpentry experience, and the ability to manage field crews while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and productivity. This role requires expertise in reading and interpreting construction plans, coordinating manpower and project schedules, and overseeing installations including retail fixtures, millwork, cabinetry, shelving, drywall, and finish carpentry. Position Summary The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for leading field crews and overseeing commercial retail construction and installation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to quality standards. This hands-on role requires strong carpentry knowledge, the ability to read and interpret construction plans, and experience coordinating crews, layouts, and installations in retail environments. The position requires frequent travel and the ability to work primarily night shifts.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience in commercial or retail construction.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or supervisory role managing field crews.
  • Available to work approximately 90% night shifts.
  • Willing and able to travel as required.
  • Minimum experience in one or more of the following: Commercial retail carpentry, Metal or wood framing, Drywall installation, taping, and finishing.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.
  • Must provide own hand tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience performing millwork and finish installations in large retail environments.
  • Previous work experience in major retail chains such as Walmart, Safeway, Foodland, Longs, or other big-box retail establishments.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise field crews while maintaining productivity, safety, and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications to perform layouts and installations.
  • Coordinate manpower, schedules, and project activities with Project Managers and General Contractors.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed on time and within company standards.
  • Maintain quality control and resolve field issues in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and participate in: Retail fixture installation, Gondola shelving installation, Décor package installation, Door and hardware installation, FRP and Marlite panel installation, Cabinetry and millwork installation, Finish carpentry, Casework setting, Drywall hanging, taping, and finishing.
