About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Carpenter Foreman who takes pride in quality work, leads by example, and enjoys mentoring others. The Carpenter Foreman is responsible for leading residential construction crews, overseeing day-to-day job site operations, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to Cortese Construction's high standards of quality. This position serves as the primary on-site leader, working closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, homeowners, and team members to deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of residential construction experience.
  • Previous experience leading or supervising construction crews preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential remodeling and construction techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction plans.
  • Working knowledge of applicable building codes and construction safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel to job sites throughout Western New York.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise residential construction crews on multiple phases of remodeling and construction projects.
  • Plan, coordinate, and assign daily work activities to maximize productivity.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Ensure projects remain on schedule while maintaining quality workmanship and budget expectations.
  • Coordinate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors as needed.
  • Monitor workmanship to ensure compliance with company standards, building codes, and project specifications.
  • Maintain a safe job site by enforcing OSHA safety practices and company safety policies.
  • Identify and resolve construction issues proactively while communicating solutions to project management.
  • Provide regular project updates, including progress, delays, and material needs.
  • Train, coach, and mentor carpenters and laborers to promote skill development and teamwork.
  • Maintain organized, clean, and professional job sites.
  • Build positive working relationships with homeowners, vendors, subcontractors, and fellow employees.
