Carpenter - Crew Leader
About The Position
Under the general supervision of the Carpenter Foreman, the Carpenter Crew Leader is responsible for working on general construction, cabinet building, carpentry repair maintenance, renovations, glazing, and hardware installation jobs as directed. This role also involves assisting with planning work and supervising assigned workmen. The position requires operating and maintaining shop equipment, laying out and assembling projects in the shop, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the work area and vehicle. Adherence to all safety procedures and support of the Park District’s safety program are essential. Other related duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- Two years of experience as a carpenter or apprentice required.
- Basic knowledge of carpentry work.
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
- Aptitude for on-the-job training.
- Ability to work effectively with Park District personnel.
- Must maintain a valid Illinois State Driver’s License.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
- Work record that shows reliability, initiative, creativity, tact and resourcefulness.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or junior college certification recommended.

- Supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety program.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
