About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Carotid Doppler Technician to perform carotid ultrasound examinations, assist physicians in the evaluation of vascular conditions, and ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging. This Part-Time position will report to the Clinical Manager of the assigned department. The ideal candidate will be proficient in ultrasound and diagnostics, have strong vascular ultrasound experience, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One to two years of vascular or carotid ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Operation of vascular ultrasound equipment and diagnostic imaging protocols.
  • Carotid Doppler imaging techniques, anatomy, and pathology recognition.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for patient interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently manage workflow.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in emergent or high-pressure situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and EMR systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret clinical instructions and procedural guidelines.
  • Interpret diagnostic information and procedural guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Apply sound clinical judgment and critical thinking.
  • Solve problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations related to diagnostic procedures.
  • Full range of body motion including standing, bending, and moving equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand–eye coordination required to operate imaging equipment.
  • Corrected hearing and vision within normal range to evaluate diagnostic images.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work under occasional stress and adapt to fluctuating schedules.
  • Some exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and clinical environments.

Nice To Haves

  • completion of an accredited vascular ultrasound or sonography program preferred.
  • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification through ARDMS preferred.
  • Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification through CCI accepted.
  • Current BCLS/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carotid Doppler ultrasound studies with accuracy and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Prepare patients for diagnostic imaging procedures and explain the process clearly.
  • Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Review and analyze diagnostic images for clarity, completeness, and diagnostic quality.
  • Document findings accurately and upload images and reports to the patient chart/EMR.
  • Assist physicians with interpretation needs and follow-up imaging requests.
  • Maintain adherence to safety, infection control, and OSHA standards.
  • Work collaboratively with clinical staff to support efficient patient flow.
  • Ensure all required documentation, orders, and imaging are complete for scheduled visits.
  • Maintain and order ultrasound supplies as needed.
  • Participate in professional training, continuing education, and required meetings.
  • Maintain knowledge of relevant Federal, State, and Local regulations and organizational policies.
  • Perform all clinical responsibilities with professionalism and attention to detail.
  • All other duties as assigned.
