About The Position

The Cargo Handler receives, stores, and distributes freight within established guidelines. This role involves reading documentation to identify items, conveying freight using equipment, sorting and storing materials, filling requisitions, and performing cargo build-ups and breakdowns. The position also requires maintaining a clean and safe work area, adhering to all company safety policies, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to read air waybill, bills of lading, or freight manifest.
Ability to convey freight with forklift or transporter.
Ability to sort and place materials according to sequence.
Ability to sort and store dangerous goods.
Ability to fill requisitions and distribute items.
Ability to open bales, crates, and other containers.
Ability to record and document counts of items.
Ability to weigh and count items.
Ability to perform cargo build-up and breakdowns.
Ability to maintain clean and hazard-free work areas.
Must practice all Company’s Safety Policy.
Must wear PPE.
Must be proficient in equipment operation.
Must follow safe lifting procedures.
Must obey speed limits when driving company vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities

Receives, stores, and distributes freight.
Reads air waybill, bills of lading, or freight manifest to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Conveys freight from receiving areas to storage or other designated areas with a forklift or transporter.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to a predetermined sequence.
Sorts and stores dangerous goods in the proper area.
Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes them.
Opens bales, crates, and other containers for breakdown.
Records and documents counts of items received or distributed.
Weighs and counts items for distribution within the warehouse to ensure conformance to company standards and air waybill.
Performs cargo build-up and/or breakdowns, freight to and/or from skid, pallets, or ULDs.
Ensures that work areas are clean and hazard-free of loose nets, straps, debris, etc.
Practices all Company’s Safety Policy inclusive of, but not limited to: wearing PPE, equipment operation, safe lifting procedures, obeying speed limits when driving company vehicles and equipment.
Performs other duties as assigned.
