Join our Parks and Recreation team as a Caretaker and help provide clean, safe, and welcoming facilities for the community. This position plays an important role in maintaining community centers, reservation halls, and other public spaces used for programs, meetings, celebrations, and special events. As a Caretaker, you will perform a variety of custodial duties, operate commercial cleaning equipment, and assist with setting up and taking down tables, chairs, and other equipment for facility reservations. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently or as part of a team, and enjoys contributing to public spaces that serve residents throughout Wyandotte County. The Caretaker classification is needed to support the daily operation, cleanliness, safety, and readiness of Parks and Recreation facilities. This position performs general custodial work at community centers, reservation halls, and other assigned locations and assists with room setup and teardown for reservations, programs, meetings, and special events. The classification reflects the physical and operational demands of the work, including the use of commercial cleaning equipment, movement of tables and chairs, handling of cleaning supplies, and travel between facilities as needed. Establishing this position helps ensure that public facilities are maintained to an appropriate standard and remain welcoming and available for community use.
