About The Position

Griswold Home Care in La Jolla is seeking compassionate individuals to join their team as part-time Caregivers. This role involves providing non-medical elderly care, homemaking, and companionship services to help seniors live independently in their homes. The company, founded in 1982, is the oldest non-medical home care franchise organization in the country and operates in over 170 locations across 30 states. Requirements

  • Language and literacy skills adequate to communicate needs and requests of the client.
  • Ability to read a care plan.
  • Ability to communicate via telephone and/or text messages with the Agency office.
  • Reliable transportation to and from a client’s home.
  • For cases requiring transportation, must have a valid driver’s license and positive driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently change positions for extended periods.
  • Completion of required 5 hours of training prior to client contact.
  • Human Services experience of at least 6 months is required.
  • Registered on CA Home Care Aide Registry, includes fingerprint criminal offender record check (state & FBI).
  • TB clearance that meets CA Health and Safety Code 1796.45.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), associate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrates empathy for vulnerable older adults and values their independence.
  • Maintain cheerful outlook while with client.
  • Capable of working independently when needed.
  • Punctual and hard working.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of professional caregiver experience preferred.
  • Experience with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, hospice or higher-acuity clients is a plus.
  • CNA or HHA certification is helpful, but not required.
  • Alzheimer's/dementia/diabetic experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide non-medical elderly care and home companionship.
  • Assist clients with various homemaking responsibilities.
  • Help clients maintain proper personal hygiene.
  • Aid clients with daily tasks such as bathing and feeding.
  • Provide companionship to clients with dementia or cognitive impairments.
  • Complete documentation for each shift and submit timely updates.
  • Communicate routinely with the office about client condition and needs.
  • Assist seniors on day shifts.
  • Prepare simple meals.
  • Complete daily tasks in a safe and professional manner.
  • Demonstrate appropriate cleaning techniques for the home environment.
