About The Position

The primary purpose of your job position is to provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily care and services in accordance with the resident’s assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors. This role involves ensuring resident comfort, safety, and well-being through various daily tasks and attentive observation. The caregiver is expected to maintain a positive and supportive environment for residents and to collaborate effectively with nursing and other facility personnel.

Requirements

  • High school education or its equivalent.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite products.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk, read or hear.
  • Frequent use of all office-related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator.

Responsibilities

  • Provide routine daily care and services to assigned residents according to their assessment and care plan.
  • Use PCC to ensure correct resident information when assisting with ALDS, meals, etc.
  • Report all changes in residents’ condition to the Health and Wellness Director promptly.
  • Record all entries on notes, SPAs, and incident reports in a descriptive manner.
  • Report all observed accidents and incidents to the Executive Director and Health and Wellness Director.
  • Maintain resident confidentiality and report any suspected or known violations.
  • Report any unauthorized attempts to access the community’s information system.
  • Perform only trained care tasks.
  • Ensure resident rooms are ready and comfortable.
  • Greet and escort residents, and introduce them to others.
  • Assist residents with packing and transporting personal possessions during room changes or discharge.
  • Transport residents to new rooms or receiving areas.
  • Assist with loading/unloading residents to/from vehicles.
  • Create and maintain a warm, positive, and calm environment.
  • Meet with nursing personnel to identify and correct problem areas.
  • Report all resident complaints and grievances.
  • Participate in and receive nursing reports.
  • Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids.
  • Make beds and add extra covers as requested.
  • Check residents frequently to ensure personal care needs are met.
  • Answer resident calls promptly.
  • Assist residents with identifying food arrangements and ensuring they are comfortable with their meals.
  • Keep resident water pitchers clean and filled.
  • Perform after-meal care.
  • Receive nursing reports upon reporting for duty.
  • Follow work assignments and schedules.
  • Cooperate with inter-departmental and facility personnel.
  • Notify the facility when late or absent.
  • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Assist residents with daily functions such as dental/mouth care, bathing, dressing, and undressing.
  • Keep residents dry by changing clothing and linens when wet or soiled.
  • Assist residents in preparing for medical tests.
  • Assist with lifting, turning, moving, positioning, and transporting residents.
  • Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures as instructed.
  • Assist in preparing residents for physical examinations.
  • Observe and report skin breakdowns to prevent pressure ulcers.
  • Report injuries of unknown source.
  • Observe disoriented and comatose residents.
  • Record and report data as instructed.
  • Perform special treatments as instructed.
  • Immediately notify the Nurse of any resident leaving or missing from the facility.
  • Use only trained equipment and report defective equipment.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident care information.
  • Report all allegations of resident abuse and/or misappropriation of resident property.
  • Honor resident refusal of treatment requests and report them to a supervisor.
  • Give back rubs as instructed.
  • Assist residents with hair care functions.
  • Assist residents with nail care.
  • Shave male residents.
  • Keep hair on female residents clean as instructed.
  • Make beds (occupied and unoccupied).
  • Position bedrest residents correctly and comfortably.
  • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions.
  • Maintain intake and output records.
  • Keep incontinent residents clean and dry.
  • Check and report bowel movements and stool character.
  • Utilize protective and adaptive equipment as instructed.
  • Provide eye and ear care.
  • Weigh and measure residents as instructed.
  • Measure and record temperatures, pulse, and respirations (TPRs).
  • Assist with the care of end-of-life residents.
  • Assist with post-mortem care as instructed.
