About The Position

Pineview Cottage, an assisted living community in Northern Michigan, is seeking a compassionate caregiver for 1st shift. The caregiver provides personal care and daily living support to elderly clients and people recovering from surgeries, injuries, or accidents. The role requires a supportive, friendly demeanor, a can-do attitude, and the ability to assist clients with varying levels of need. Starting pay is $21 per hour.

Requirements

• Enjoy working in a one-on-one setting and be eager to improve and continuously learn new skills.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and perform job-related physical duties.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation every day.
• Ability to act in a compassionate and supportive manner.
• Available to work different shifts, including nights and/or weekends.
• At least 1 year of prior experience in a healthcare, hospitality, or in-home care environment.
• Willingness to enforce health and safety standards.
• Be supportive and compassionate.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or experience as a Caregiver, CNA, or HHA, or completion of a CNA program.
• Take pride in providing high-quality care.

Nice To Haves

• Hoyer lift experience, specific to the client.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal hygiene assistance, including help with showering, bathing, dressing, and eating.
• Help clients take prescribed medication and assist with ambulation.
• Support clients with mobility at home and outside, including attending appointments and going for walks.
• Plan and prepare meals.
• Assist with physical therapy exercises.
• Complete clients’ shopping or accompany them while shopping.
• Perform housekeeping duties.
• Report unusual incidents and respond quickly and responsibly to emergencies.
• Assist with activities essential to daily living, including serving meals and related tasks as needed.
