About The Position

The Residence at Otter Creek is hiring Caregivers. This role involves providing for the needs of elders, including personal care, therapeutic programming, safety, and emotional support, in a manner that upholds dignity, independence, choice, and individuality. The essential duties include delivering services as outlined in the resident's service plan, promoting the mission and values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living, and actively participating in community occupancy growth by representing the community positively to potential residents and their families. Associates are expected to complete orientation and training programs, assist residents with medications according to state regulations and company policies, and make appropriate notifications to the nurse. A key aspect of the role is actively engaging residents in meaningful interactions and providing assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, dining, and mobility, while encouraging independence. The caregiver will monitor for changes in resident needs, preferences, and health status, reporting any changes immediately to the RN or designee. Responsibilities also include assisting residents with clothing and laundry, helping residents with bedtime routines, maintaining resident unit cleanliness, responding promptly to emergency calls, participating in ongoing in-service training and specialized staff training programs, escorting residents to meals and activities, and documenting all services provided, including incidents and refusals, using the community's computer tracking system. The role also involves conducting and facilitating programming that offers cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity, and spiritual connection.

Requirements

  • Ability to use computer for documenting services provided.
  • Fluent in the ability to communicate in the English language, both oral and written.
  • Must have completed the course for certified nursing assistant or have equivalent training or experience as required by State Regulation.
  • CPR and First Aide training as mandated by the State employed.
  • Current license/certification as required by State Regulation.
  • Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with office software, including but not limited to word processing or demonstrate the ability to learn data input.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience providing direct care or the equivalent in training.
  • Experience in caring for seniors with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of Dementia is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the mission and core values of the Residence and LCB Senior Living.
  • Represent and interact positively with potential residents, family members and professionals to grow community occupancy.
  • Successfully complete the community's and any State orientation training program.
  • Assist residents with medications according to State Regulation and LCB Policies, making required record entries and appropriate notifications to the nurse.
  • Actively engage residents in meaningful interactions and experiences.
  • Provide assistance, encouragement, and restorative interventions for residents' activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, dining, mobility).
  • Take initiative in engaging in group and individual engagement.
  • Monitor for changes in resident needs, preferences and health status and report/document any noticed changes at once to the RN or designee.
  • Assist Residents with clothing and laundry needs as per the service plan.
  • Assist Residents in going to bed at night, when necessary.
  • Assist Residents with keeping their units neat, clean and orderly.
  • Answer emergency calls and attend to the Residents needs promptly.
  • Participate in the community's regularly scheduled on-going in-service training programs and specialized staff training programs.
  • Assist with escorting residents to meals and engagement as needed or directed.
  • Document both scheduled and unscheduled services provided, including incidents, behaviors, and out of the ordinary events, including a resident's refusal of services.
  • Input information into the community computer tracking system regarding services provided to residents.
  • Conduct and facilitate programming, including therapeutic groups and individual interaction, that offer cognitive stimulation, socialization, physical activity and spiritual connection.
