Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, provides community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work closely with clinical staff to support therapeutic and behavioral plans, providing assistance and strategies to individuals to live as independently as possible. This role involves supporting individuals in the community with transportation for outings, appointments, and shopping, as well as assisting with daily living skills like meal preparation and medication administration. DSPs also guide individuals on developmental goals such as community participation, budgeting, exercise, nutrition, and vocational responsibilities, and support with personal hygiene, grooming, bathing, and toileting. Additionally, they assist in redirecting agitated or aggressive behaviors.
