About The Position

Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, provides community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting individuals in a group home setting with personal hygiene and supporting individuals who may have behavioral challenges and other complex needs. The ideal candidate is compassionate, patient, and finds meaning in this type of work, offering a promising future at Sevita. The work location for this specific posting is the North Hills area of San Fernando Valley.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • At least 6 months-1 year experience in direct care of individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Must have some experience working with severe behavioral challenges such as verbal and physical aggression, running away, and so on.
  • Behavioral de-escalation skills
  • Knowledge of client rights and advocacy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Must be able to pass applicable criminal and driver history background checks and a pre-employment physical and TB test.
  • Patient, compassionate, reliable, responsible characteristics
  • Valid CA Driver's license
  • Must have driver history of at least one year as a licensed driver (in any US state)
  • All positions require working at least one weekend shift (some schedules include both weekend days) on a regular basis
