About The Position

ameriCARE Marin is currently seeking a compassionate, dependable, and highly experienced caregiver to join our team in Novato, California. This position is available immediately and offers a consistent schedule of up to 48 hours per week caring for a client with complex medical and behavioral needs. If you are a patient, confident caregiver with experience supporting individuals living with cognitive impairment, behavioral health conditions, and chronic medical conditions, we would love to hear from you. The client requires an experienced caregiver who can provide compassionate, patient-centered care while supporting complex physical, cognitive, and behavioral needs. The client has a history of Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, Type 2 diabetes (non-insulin dependent), Hypertension, Cognitive decline with impaired memory and judgment, Bowel and bladder incontinence, and a History of falls. The ideal caregiver is experienced in working with clients who may occasionally become resistant to care or display challenging behaviors. The ability to remain calm, redirect appropriately, communicate respectfully, and provide care while maintaining the client's dignity and safety is essential.

Requirements

  • Previous professional caregiving experience required
  • Comfortable providing personal care and incontinence care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patient, dependable, and compassionate
  • Able to remain calm in stressful situations and use de-escalation techniques when appropriate
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license
  • Must successfully pass all required pre-employment screenings in accordance with company policy

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting clients with dementia, cognitive impairment, serious mental illness, or behavioral challenges strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting assistance
  • Incontinence care
  • Safe transfers and mobility assistance
  • Fall prevention and supervision
  • Meal preparation and encouragement with nutrition and hydration
  • Medication reminders
  • Light housekeeping related to the client's care
  • Laundry and linen changes
  • Companionship and emotional support
  • Behavioral redirection using a calm, compassionate approach
  • Observe and promptly report any changes in the client's physical, emotional, or cognitive condition
  • Accurately complete visit documentation
