About The Position
Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, provides community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting individuals in a group home setting with their personal hygiene and supporting individuals who can have behavioral challenges and other complex needs. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 6 months-1 year experience in direct care of individuals with developmental disabilities
- Must have some experience working with severe behavioral challenges such as verbal and physical aggression, running away, and so on.
- Behavioral de-escalation skills
- Knowledge of client rights and advocacy
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to pass applicable criminal and driver history background checks and a pre-employment physical and TB test.
- Valid CA Driver's license
- Must have driver history of at least one year as a licensed driver (in any US state)
- Patient, compassionate, reliable, responsible characteristics
- Ability to work weekends on a regular basis

- DSP Year 1 and DSP Year 2 certifications
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals in a group home setting with their personal hygiene.
- Support individuals who can have behavioral challenges and other complex needs.
- Help participants be part of the community and enjoy their favorite activities.
- Support participants with developmental goals like budgeting, exercise, and nutrition.
