About The Position

Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is seeking dependable caregivers to provide non-medical, one-on-one care to clients in Crown Point and nearby communities. This role helps seniors and adults remain comfortable and supported at home. We offer flexible scheduling, ongoing training, and support from a local office team. Requirements

High school diploma or GED
At least two years of paid caregiving experience in a home care setting or a similar paid caregiving role required
Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
Current CPR certification and TB test required before a client assignment
Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling, communication, and documentation
Dependable attendance, clear communication, and a compassionate, professional approach

Responsibilities

Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating, and other personal care needs
Support safe walking and transfers according to the care plan and your training
Assist clients with walkers, wheelchairs, and other mobility equipment
Provide companionship, conversation, and social engagement
Prepare meals and help with light housekeeping, laundry, and organization
Offer medication reminders; this role does not include medication administration
Observe and report changes in client condition, appearance, or behavior
Use our mobile app to clock in and out, communicate with the office, and document care
Follow infection prevention practices, safety procedures, and agency policies
Maintain client dignity, confidentiality, and professional conduct
