About The Position

Texas Panhandle Centers is seeking an IDD Caregiver (1199) to deliver trauma-informed care to adult (18+) individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across Amarillo and the surrounding service area of the Texas Panhandle. This role is ideal for human services graduates looking to gain direct clinical experience in a supportive, multi-disciplinary team environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • One semester (12 credit hours) of accredited college work, OR a minimum of 8th grade reading comprehension level as evidenced by a qualifying score on the Adult Basic Learning Examination (ABLE).
  • Some experience assisting in the arts and crafts, music, education, recreation, vocational therapy, physical therapy, or occupational therapy.
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License with an insurable driving record.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Employees may be required to utilize their personal mobile phones for two-factor authentication (2FA).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with individuals with IDD.
  • Experience in planning activities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.
  • American Sign Language proficiency is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ethical and professional communications at all times using respectful trauma-informed care language.
  • Provide supervision and care to clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
  • Perform direct care services and clerical duties for individuals with IDD attending the Day Habilitation and Individual Skills and Socialization (ISS) programs.
  • Provide transportation, help feed, assist in toileting, distribute medication, escort to community events/interactions, and teach social and independent living skills to verbal and non-verbal individuals with IDD.
  • Complete necessary documentation within 48 hours of service delivery and meet established productivity standards.
  • Has no financial responsibility but is accountable for the assigned property of the individuals.
  • Work under the supervision of the ASCI Director.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
  • Adhere to TPC Business Code of Conduct and report concerns if ethical and/or business standards defined in the code are compromised.
