About The Position

Senior Helpers is seeking a Float Professional Caregiver to serve as a flexible, on-call team member who fills shifts between long-term caregiver placements. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for call-offs and new client starts of care, providing dependable support across a variety of schedules and client needs. The Float Caregiver must be available and ready to accept assignments with any Senior Helpers client during scheduled float hours. This position requires flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to step into a wide range of caregiving situations on short notice.

Requirements

  • Must be a CNA or a CNA-level skilled caregiver able to provide personal care and assist with lifts/transfers
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the Northern Colorado area
  • Must have a reliable vehicle in good working order, valid registration, and auto insurance for client transportation
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills required; a second language is a plus
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Compassionate, dependable, and caring approach to serving older adults
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Legal identification and proof of authorization to work in the United States
  • Ability to use the agency’s mobile app for clock-in/out and care documentation

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of caregiving or relevant experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with all care plan ADLs and IADLs
  • Safely transfer and position clients, including repositioning a client in an occupied bed
  • Provide care for hospice clients and clients at end of life
  • Support clients with a variety of diagnoses, including Parkinson’s disease, dementia, stroke, and ALS
  • Observe, document, and report changes in physical or mental condition to supervisors immediately
  • Provide companionship, conversation, and protective oversight
  • Transport clients safely by vehicle
  • Perform other duties as assigned by a manager or supervisor
  • Train on a variety of client shifts to prepare for coverage across different care situations
  • Participate in paid training shifts alongside other caregivers at base pay
  • Provide last-minute coverage for call-outs during assigned availability
  • Be ready to accept assignments with less than one hour’s notice during float hours
  • Keep a working cell phone on and nearby during float hours
  • Respond to calls and texts from the office or on-call manager within 1 hour during float hours
  • Remain available and avoid alcohol or other activities that would prevent you from reporting to a shift during assigned on-call times
  • Assist office team members with assigned administrative tasks when not caring for clients; client shifts do take priority at all times

Benefits

  • Base pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
  • Weekend differential: Additional $1.00 per hour for shifts on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
  • Short shift bonus: $5 untaxed gas bonus for shifts of 3 hours or less
  • Extra short shift premiums: Additional $3.00 per hour for shifts of 2 hours or less, Additional $6.00 per hour for shifts of 1 hour or less
  • Guaranteed 30-40 hours of weekly pay if you remain available, respond when contacted, and are prepared to work
