Requirements

• At least 18 years of age
• Ability to pass a background check through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and FBI check if applicable.
• Safe and reliable transportation with a valid driver’s license and auto insurance, if applicable.
• Ability to pass a driving record check, if applicable.
• TB (Tuberculosis) Skin Test
• Physical, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide support and services to people with mental health concerns and developmental limitations in their homes and communities.
• Support adults in their own homes to help them live a meaningful and fulfilled life based on their goals and aspirations.
• Support individuals with medication, keeping a safe living environment, assisting with personal care, cooking, and cleaning.
• Accompany individuals to community events and support their hobbies and interests.
• Attend events such as movies, birthday parties, or restaurant outings based on the interests of the individuals.
• Teach skills and abilities through coaching and role modeling, card games, music, and trying new adventures.
• Act as a voice to advocate for the needs of those who don’t always have the voice or ability to do so.
• Support with personal care (getting dressed, showering, toileting, etc.), cooking, cleaning, medication administration, support of positive behavior, and working through difficult situations in ways that lead to positive outcomes.
• Collaborate with the person you support and your co-workers to problem solve and create a positive and inclusive culture.
• Provide clear and accurate documentation of the person(s) you support day-to-day.
• Aid or support activities of daily living in the person’s home and their community based on the needs and preferences of the person you support.
• Support others to realize their hopes and dreams, which may take place in the form of community events or activities.
