About The Position
Assisting Hands Home Care – Merrillville is seeking compassionate, reliable caregivers to provide non-medical, in-home care to seniors and adults in Crown Point, Merrillville, Valparaiso, Portage, Hobart, Chesterton, and across Lake & Porter Counties. Caregivers will assist clients with personal care, provide companionship, help with light housekeeping and meal preparation, offer medication reminders, support safe mobility, observe and report changes in client condition, use a mobile app for clocking in/out and documenting care, and follow infection control and safety procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
- Must pass a national background check
- Current TB test and CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
- Dependable, compassionate, and professional attitude
- Comfortable using a smartphone for scheduling and communication
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of caregiving experience (home care, assisted living, or facility)
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, transfers)
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
- Help with light housekeeping, laundry, and meal preparation
- Offer medication reminders (no administration)
- Support safe mobility and ambulation (walker, wheelchair, etc.)
- Observe and report changes in client condition or behavior
- Use our mobile app to clock in/out and document care notes
- Follow infection control and safety procedures (CDC-compliant)
