About The Position

Join the Maine Department of Labor as a CareerCenter Consultant in the Rural Healthcare Transformation Project and play a vital role in supporting frontline healthcare workers and the employers who depend on them. In this dynamic position, you will connect healthcare employers, incumbent and separated workers, and community partners to training opportunities that upgrade occupational skills, build essential competencies, and advance career pathways. You will determine program eligibility, guide clients in creating Maine Job Link accounts, enroll participants in the program, refer both businesses and job seekers to the Maine Apprenticeship program, coordinate with training providers, issue vouchers, and process invoices for tuition, fees, books, and support services. Using strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills, you will ensure funding supplements existing resources and that each client receives coordinated, high-quality support to promote career advancement, recruitment, and long-term workforce retention in Maine’s healthcare sector.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer interests, aptitudes, skills, and employment readiness to support vocational planning and identify appropriate career pathways and connect customers to employment opportunities, training programs, and supportive services aligned with individual goals and labor market demand.
  • Provide comprehensive case management, including consultation, referrals, and coordination of services to address barriers and support employment, reemployment, retention, and long-term career advancement.
  • Utilize electronic data systems to accurately enter, manage, and track participant information, services, enrollments, credential attainment, and employment outcomes.
  • Promote workforce programs, services, and training opportunities to job seekers, employers, and community partners through outreach, workshops, presentations, job fairs, and other public events.
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to individuals and employers in accessing workforce system platforms, completing applications, and utilizing available programs, benefits, and services.
  • Engage and collaborate with employers, education providers, and community partners to identify workforce needs, align services, and expand employment and training opportunities.
  • Develop and manage work-based learning opportunities, including apprenticeships, internships, and on-the-job training, and coordinate related training contracts and agreements.
  • Manage training-related processes, including authorizations, documentation, vendor coordination, invoice processing, and expenditure monitoring to ensure compliance and timely payment.
