About The Position

The Career Transition Specialist determines graduate and former enrollee qualifications for placement, conducts placement activities, and follows up in compliance with government and management directives. The role supports youth served by the Los Angeles Job Corps Center in Los Angeles, California. The specialist maintains connections with government agencies and employers, identifies employment, education, military, and training opportunities, and helps graduates and former enrollees secure placements. The role also verifies and documents placements, maintains required records, prepares reports, and assists with placement planning and career support activities.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or a closely related field; or an associate’s degree and two years of related experience.
Valid driver license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

Maintain linkages with the Department of Labor and national, state, and local agencies and employers to provide placement services.
Identify potential jobs, schools, military opportunities, and other training program placements for separating graduates and former enrollees; conduct job development activities and follow up with separated graduates.
Directly place graduates and former enrollees to meet Department of Labor contractual placement goals, and verify and document placements according to requirements.
Complete required documentation in CTS and individual folders for assigned graduates until their service period ends.
Prepare placement reports and assist with development of the contract’s placement plan.
Conduct career support activities, as requested, in support of center and regional office efforts.
