About The Position

The Career Services Specialist will provide individual career coaching and assistance to students and alumni on a variety of career-related topics including career planning, resume and cover letter preparation, networking, interviewing, internships/job search strategies, and utilization of online career resources.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Knowledge of career development, recruiting and job search processes
• Evidence of strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience working as part of a team in a collaborative work environment
• Evidence of the ability to exercise sound judgment
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and projects
• Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software systems and programs

Responsibilities

• Provide individual career coaching and assistance to students and alumni on career-related topics including career planning, resume and cover letter preparation, networking, interviewing, internships/job search strategies, and utilization of online career resources
• Assist students by referring internally to college support services and externally to community resources as appropriate
• Promote and utilize online career management tools to assist students with internship and job search opportunities
• Research and keep current with employment trends, knowledge of the job market, salary data, and best practices for career services through participation in regional and national career organizations
• Collaborate with career services staff to provide programs, workshops, classroom presentations, career expos, or other career-related events
• Contribute to the development of career resource materials
• Contribute to website content development
• Develop ongoing relationships with faculty, staff and administration to encourage full utilization of career services
• Assist with employer engagement and experiential learning initiatives
• Provide support for annual projects and reports, as needed
