About The Position

Facilitate a wide range of career development initiatives, including internships, job shadowing, and experiential learning opportunities, to empower University of Wyoming students in their professional journeys. Additionally, cultivate and strengthen relationships with employers to expand networking and career prospects for students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2-3 years of work-related experience working with student services, career development or academic advising in an educational setting.
  • Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
  • Sponsorship for H-1B work authorization or work visa is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in student personnel, higher education, counselor education, psychology or other appropriate area from an accredited institution.
  • Experience developing career programs.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for organizing, marketing, planning and implementing programs or projects.
  • Skills or aptitude for developing and maintaining relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Proven communication skills, particularly with a variety of populations to include faculty, employees, and students.
  • Ability to work independently as well as with self-directed teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group career assessments to help students identify personal interests, skills, and career goals.
  • Work with faculty to align career-related opportunities with specific program needs, enhancing student success.
  • Maintain current platforms and online resources, tracking data and student participation to ensure program effectiveness.
  • Create and deliver presentations as needed on career-related topics.
  • Offer resources and guidance on career requirements and industry trends, stay abreast of hiring trends and salary information for college majors/programs.
  • Assist students in identifying suitable internships, externships, or clinical experiences and publicize these opportunities.
  • Support students in developing job search skills, including resume and cover letter writing, interview preparation, and networking techniques.
  • Build relationships with students, aiding them in their decision-making processes regarding career paths.
  • Collaborate with other career services units to plan and execute career fairs and events, ensuring effective marketing and organization, as well as consistency and equity.
  • Develop and implement career workshops and programs while managing associated budgets.
  • Establish and strengthen relationships with current and potential employers, facilitating connections between employers and students both in and out of the classroom.
  • Create and maintain both electronic and printed career and internship resources in collaboration with departmental staff.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Attend and represent UW at meetings, career fairs and employer events.
  • Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational goals and objectives.
  • Attend and participate in training and other personal professional development activity.
