About The Position

Goodwill of the Heartland is seeking a Part-Time Career Services Advisor for their Cedar Rapids Center location. This role involves assisting community members with career planning, certification training, job search activities, computer skills, and other skill development opportunities. The advisor will conduct skill assessments, help job seekers secure employment by aiding with resume writing, interview skills, and workshops, and build partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and schools to promote Goodwill resources.

Requirements

An Associate's degree or two years of study completed from a college/university is required.
One year of employment in a related field such as recruiting, supervisory, or training is required.
Reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, proof of auto insurance required.
Successful completion of a motor vehicle, child/elder dependent abuse background check, and sex offender registry check required.
Demonstrable literacy in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Teams/Zoom, and other computer skills required.
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Nice To Haves

An additional year of employment in a related field may be substituted for the one year of employment requirement.

Responsibilities

Assist community members with career planning and certification training.
Help community members in job search activities, building computer skills, and other skill development opportunities.
Provide skill assessments for each job seeker to assist them in locating resources and tools for their desired goals.
Assist job seekers in securing employment by aiding with basic job search activities, resume writing, skill workshops, and interview skills.
Build and maintain partnerships with area businesses, organizations, and schools to represent and market Goodwill resources to fit workforce needs.
