About The Position

McDaniel College is a four-year, independent college of the liberal arts and sciences offering over 100 undergraduate and graduate programs. One of the original "Colleges That Change Lives," McDaniel emphasizes experiential learning and student-faculty collaboration to develop the unique potential in every student. Represented by the Green Terror, over 20 athletic teams compete in the NCAA Division III Centennial Conference. A student-centered community of 1,600 undergraduates and 1,400 graduate students offers access to both Baltimore and Washington, D.C., plus a European campus in Budapest, Hungary. Tuition remission only graduate assistants (TGAs) receive tuition remission in exchange for work performed. To receive (one) 3-credit hour graduate course for coursework that is not included in the Counselor Education program, the GA must work 125 hours per semester. To receive (one) 3-credit hour graduate course for coursework that is included in the Data Analytics and Counselor Education program, the GA must work 140 hours per semester. Requirements

  • Enrolled in a graduate program at McDaniel College in counseling, human resources, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable with public speaking.
  • Demonstrate initiative, time management and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite
  • Professional demeanor is a must

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in instruction of credit-bearing undergraduate coursework associated with the McDaniel Commitment.
  • Creating course content
  • Facilitating class discussion
  • Providing feedback and guidance to students enrolled in the course
  • Organizing events associated with the course
  • Grading submitted coursework.
  • Conduct 1:1 appointments with students regarding internship/job search, resume and cover letter reviews, graduate school search and application reviews
  • Provide overview of CEO services and resources to students, faculty, and staff, and promote CEO supported workshops and events to students and the college community
  • Maintain records and data in Handshake, the CEO's online database
  • Staff CEO tabling events at various campus locations
  • Support marketing efforts (e.g., disseminate marketing and promotional materials throughout campus)
  • Support the CEO Ambassador Program and assist with new student recruitment
  • Provide professional development training to student workers
  • Work on special projects and provide support to staff, programs and services, including research.
