About The Position

This position oversees the day-to-day functions and operations of foundational career center services, including customer service, scheduling, communication, and staffing for drop-in services and programs, as well as the Gator Career Closet. The specialist supports operating hours and manages student employees' schedules and tasks for foundational services. They will coordinate Gator Career Closet functions, such as inventory management, gathering professional clothing donations, and outreach to community partners. The role involves collaborating with C3 staff to schedule campus events requiring C3 participation and creating/maintaining files, calendar records, documents, and workflows. Additionally, the specialist will support customer service efforts with the Business Administrative Services team, including front desk maintenance and staffing. The position provides foundational career planning services to all University of Florida students, facilitating individual appointments and drop-in services on topics like interviewing skills, job search strategies, and general career decision-making. The specialist will create educational resources (presentations, handouts, web content) using PowerPoint and Canva, and deliver outreach presentations to classes, campus units, and student organizations. They will also work with the outreach coordinator to staff presentations for student-led organizations outside traditional work hours. Furthermore, the role provides administrative support for the coordination and communication of Career Foundations and Academic Integration team events, programs, and partner meetings. This includes coordinating logistics and communications, scheduling meetings, preparing agendas and materials, and arranging events. The specialist will conduct benchmarking research on career learning trends and prepare reports. They will manage shared email inboxes for communication with campus stakeholders, handling processes like holds, experiential learning reporting, and career education promptly.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supports operating hours and student employees’ scheduling and task management for foundational services.
  • Coordinates Gator Career Closet functions including: inventory management, gathering donations of professional clothing items, and outreach to community partners supporting donations.
  • Collaborates with C3 staff to build staffing schedules for campus events needing C3 participation including tabling.
  • Creates and maintains files, calendar records, documents, and workflows before and after outreach engagements.
  • Works with Business Administrative Services team to support additional customer service efforts including front desk maintenance and staffing as needed.
  • Provides foundational career planning services to all University of Florida students.
  • Facilitates individual career planning appointments, drop-in services to University of Florida undergraduate and graduate students in topics such as interviewing skills, job search strategies, and general career decision making strategies.
