About The Position

Provide individualized assistance to UCO students and alumni in obtaining education and career goals, which may include topics such as defining career and internship goals, major selection, job search strategies, resume preparation, interviewing, graduate/professional school applications, and career assessments. Coordinate at least one special project focused on student outreach and training to special student populations. Facilitate training and skill development workshops and presentations to classes and student organizations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and information about career fields and industries. Assist in coordinating special events, programs, fairs, etc. Provide outreach to faculty, staff and any appropriate student groups and/or organizations to increase visibility and knowledge of office programs. Participate in assessment of services and programs. Promote the university and office through participation in professional organizations. Participate as a team member in other relevant activities related to the goals and objectives of the unit. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in a field that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts that can be applied to student development.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, including the ability to speak to both small and large groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and implement programs.
  • Experience building relationships with diverse stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in counseling or student development.
  • At least one year of experience in career services, advising, or counseling.
  • Understanding of career development theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to use assessment instruments such as Focus2 or CliftonStrengths.
