About The Position

The Career Development Coordinator (CDC) works collaboratively with students, families, school staff, business and industry partners, postsecondary institutions, military representatives, and community organizations to provide career development services that prepare students for postsecondary education and workforce success. The CDC promotes career awareness, career exploration, employability skills, and work-based learning opportunities while supporting student achievement and future readiness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Career and Technical Education (CTE) program area or Master's degree in School Counseling
  • Eligible for or possess a North Carolina Career Development Coordinator (747) license
  • Completion of the Career Development Facilitator Course and CDC Induction Program, or willingness to complete required training
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build relationships with students, families, staff, and community partners

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in career development, work-based learning, business/industry partnerships, school counseling, or Career and Technical Education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive career development program
  • Coordinate career awareness, exploration, and planning activities for students
  • Align career development initiatives with district and school goals
  • Promote career readiness and workforce preparation opportunities
  • Assist students in identifying career interests, pathways, and postsecondary goals
  • Support the development of employability, leadership, and workplace readiness skills
  • Facilitate career assessments, career planning activities, and career-focused events
  • Encourage student participation in career and technical education opportunities
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local businesses, industries, colleges, universities, military branches, and community organizations
  • Coordinate work-based learning experiences including job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and career mentoring opportunities
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to expand career development opportunities for students
  • Communicate career development resources and opportunities to students and families
  • Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and parents to support student career planning
  • Promote community involvement in career readiness initiatives
  • Maintain required records, reports, and documentation
  • Monitor program effectiveness and utilize data to support continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal requirements related to career development programs
  • Participate in professional development and training activities as required
