About The Position

As a Career Development Advisor within the Center for Career and Professional Development at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, you will play a pivotal role in preparing students for professional success. In this student-facing role, you will support Aerospace Engineering and International students by helping them develop the skills, confidence, and career readiness necessary to thrive in a competitive job market. You will also collaborate with employers, alumni, and faculty to create meaningful career pathways, facilitate professional development programming, and connect students with high-impact opportunities in their fields of interest.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in any of the following areas: Career counseling, Academic advising, Student support services, Human resources or recruiting (with a focus on early talent or campus engagement). Higher education internships, graduate assistantships, or practicum roles can meet this requirement.
  • Strong understanding of career development principles as they relate to college students, with the ability to assess and guide students in their professional growth and job search strategies.
  • Analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft operating systems (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email), and experience with CRM or Career Services Management Systems (such as Handshake or similar platforms).
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Comfort with learning and using career services technologies (e.g., Handshake, Workday).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or experience in aviation/aerospace-related and knowledge of the military are highly desirable, given the unique industry needs at Embry-Riddle.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized and group career advising on topics including resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, networking, job and internship searches, career events, and salary negotiation.
  • Assess students' career development needs and deliver customized strategies and resources to support their professional growth.
  • Develop and lead workshops, presentations, and events focused on career readiness, including the integration of NACE career competencies.
  • Actively identify and source internships, co-ops, and full-time employment opportunities by building relationships with recruiters, companies, and alumni.
  • Promote and manage participation in the University's Co-op/Internship for-credit program, guiding students through registration and compliance.
  • Build strong collaborations with faculty and academic departments to support students’ career planning and placement.
  • Engage employers to expand recruiting partnerships and create new opportunities for Embry-Riddle students.
  • Assist with Eagle Job Shadow Day, Employer visits, Career Expo, Employer Partner Tailgate and other programing events organized by the Center for Career and Professional Development.
