About The Position

Career Counselor is responsible for implementing all components of the Pre-ETS and curriculum within the Shop in a manner which is reflective of KCARC’s mission to advocate and provide opportunities in dignified and respectful manner for the total well-being of individuals and families with special needs.

Requirements

• Maintain reliable transportation available for use during working hours, valid driver’s license and provide proof of automobile liability coverage.
• Possess ability to maintain flexible schedule to meet the demands of the department.
• Maintain good hygiene.
• Possess excellent research and writing skills.
• Possess the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Possess the ability to use tact and empathy when dealing with people of varied backgrounds.
• Possess the ability to establish effective working relationships.
• Possess the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Be proficient in Windows and Microsoft Office products.
• Accept responsibility and demonstrate leadership.
• Be able to multitask effectively in a sometimes fast paced environment.
• Experience or formal training in job placement, task analysis, data keeping, job analysis and work site training is needed.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to complete detailed case notes for their clients required.
• Must demonstrate insight, sensitivity, flexibility, and a strong desire to work with youth and adults.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working in an educational environment or additional college credit hours/degree are a plus.
