About The Position

Open Door Group (ODG), a mission-driven non-profit organization serving communities across British Columbia and Alberta, is seeking a Career Connections Specialist to support job-ready individuals in achieving meaningful employment outcomes through personalized career development, job search support, employer engagement, and employment placement services. The Career Connections Specialist provides professional career development and employment services to a diverse range of job seekers with varying levels of experience, education, certifications, and employment goals. Working closely with candidates from intake through employment retention, this role combines career counselling, job search coaching, employer engagement, labour market expertise, and case management to support successful and sustainable employment outcomes. The Career Connections Specialist also develops strong relationships with local employers, identifies employment opportunities, and helps connect qualified candidates to meaningful work.

Requirements

  • Diploma in Marketing, Sales, Human Resources, Community Social Services, or a related field
  • Minimum three years of recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (may be obtained after hire)
  • Must maintain a satisfactory criminal record, including vulnerable sector check
  • Experience providing career counselling, employment coaching, job search support, and developing individualized employment plans.
  • Knowledge of career development practices, employment barriers, labour market trends, workforce development, and effective employment interventions.
  • Experience building relationships with employers, promoting services, and connecting candidates to employment and work experience opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of community resources and wraparound supports that contribute to successful employment outcomes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coach, facilitate, present information, and build relationships with diverse individuals and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations professionally.
  • Experience working in an outcome-based service environment, managing multiple priorities, and maintaining high standards of service quality.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, case management, and record-keeping skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, case management systems, databases, and employment-related technology tools.
  • Ability to market candidate strengths effectively, leverage online networking strategies, and support successful employment outcomes through employer engagement and workforce development activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide career coaching and employment counselling
