About The Position

The Career Coach provides multifaceted career development advising services for students at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional school levels. This role involves helping students explore career options aligned with their academic pursuits, teaching career and professional development courses, and focusing career coaching in healthcare, life sciences, and STEM for students on both the Main and Roanoke campuses. The career coach will participate in retention initiatives, connect students with industry experts, and cultivate experiential learning opportunities regionally and nationally. Responsibilities include designing and creating digital newsletters for internships and jobs, cultivating faculty partnerships, and presenting career-related programs and workshops. The coach will also gain proficiency in software platforms such as Handshake, Career Coach, CareerShift, and Big Interview, and represent CCTD on the Pre-Health/Pre-Med student leadership club.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated track record of innovative thinking and problem-solving.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of healthcare and science-related career paths and recruiting practices.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, management and training abilities.
  • Advanced project and program management abilities.
  • Proven ability to advise students in multiple majors, including the Humanities, social sciences, STEM and business.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrate the ability to teach and coach college-level students.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with key partners.
  • Possess technical skills in Microsoft Office, Handshake, Career Coach assessment software and the utilization of CareerShift and Big Interview.

  • Represent CCTD on the Pre-Health/Pre-Med student leadership club.
