About The Position

The Associate Director, Graduate Career Advancement provides guidance in areas of personal and professional development for students in the MBA programs and other assigned graduate business program(s) and facilities. Moreover, the Associate Director, Career Services oversees the planning, development, and administration of career and employment assistance programs for students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related business field. MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience
  • A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered
  • Knowledge of business and management principles and professional business etiquette.
  • Entrepreneurial, growth mindset with ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with strong written communication and editing skills
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.

Responsibilities

  • Contributes to the long-range planning and goals of the department.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
  • Assists with collection and reporting of career outcomes for compliance and rankings.
  • May supervise other staff and/or student employees
  • Provides individual career and professional development coaching to graduate business students and alumni regarding career planning and job searches, including self-assessment, resume (written and video) and cover letter review, interview preparation, professional skills development, and career research and options.
  • Demonstrates technology and career platforms to optimize students’ outcomes at finding employment.
  • Leverages data to help department achieve student employment goals.
  • Partners with local and national organizations and employers to develop full-time employment, internship, or professional development opportunities for students and alumni in the non-profit, certified B-corp, government, healthcare, sustainability financial services firms, consulting firms, technology, real estate industry and the Miami startup ecosystem, among others.
  • Acts as a liaison with national professional organizations such as National Black MBA Association, Prospanica, ROMBA, etc.
  • Leads, in partnership with students and career team, Miami Herbert Volunteer Corps
  • Supports mentoring and experiential learning initiatives.
  • Acts as a liaison with cross campus partners such as undergraduate career advancement
  • Plans events to facilitate networking opportunities with employers and build student communication skills and self-confidence.
  • Serves as liaison to student organizations and faculty members.
  • Assists in teaching two sections of Management Career courses per semester (class formats may include: online/asynchronous, online/synchronous, or in-person) using uniformly created lesson plans, syllabi, assignments, presentations, and learning management site.
  • Utilize career coaching skills to build relationships with students in your classes through assignment feedback, grading, and in-class activities.
  • Utilize instructional technology to create an effective and engaging learning environment.
  • Develops on-camera principles and strategies for video delivery, highlighting student talents (video interviewing and resumes) as well as Career Center accomplishments.
  • Develops resources and relevant career development materials for departmental web portal.
  • Participates in the creation of handouts, marketing materials, and other resources.
  • Gathers and reviews outcomes data for MBA students in accordance with CSEA audit standards.
  • Analyzes and reports auditable data to rankings and accreditation groups for the MBA program.
